![]() ![]() ![]() she went to two local music shops, and everyone there told her that petersons were junk (paraphrasing) and that the snark was the way to go. my wife was looking for father's day ideas and i asked for a strobe tuner, thinking specifically of a peterson. I should probably start by saying that my only experience with a snark was bad. How far out of tune is it saying your notes are? If you're tuning your open A string, for example, and the Bb note (first fret) is very sharp, your guitar will need to be intonated. If this is the case, it should be able to accurately tell you what you're playing anywhere on the fingerboard, assuming it's in the pitch range of the tuner. Are Snarks only accurate on open string tuning? Should Snarks also be accurate when playing notes using frets?Įverything i find online appears to indicate Snarks are chromatic. However, after tuning, I've noticed notes I play, that require using frets, do not match the note displayed on my Snark tuner. Bass comparison: One of my basses has two truss rods and it's much less prone to this phenomenon than my bass with a single truss rod. It's nothing to worry about, just something to keep in mind when you're tuning. it depends on how thick the neck is a lot of the time, or how tight the truss rod is, etc. This is often the case on a lot of guitars. (By the time I finish tuning hi E, the low E string (and others) will be out of tune. I also noticed that when I change strings, I have to constantly re-tune until things stabilize. ![]()
